Pontoon Construction

Backed by Pride and Craftsmanship

SunChaser rides on the unbeatable strength of hat-channel construction with more cross channels than other pontoons in its class. In fact, when you take a closer look at the details, you'll find that the true value of a SunChaser is in the quality of its craftsmanship.

Cross Channel Construction

CROSS CHANNEL CONSTRUCTION Provides superior chassis strength. The transom area is supported with up to 3/16" hat-channel construction using twice the amount of fasteners as other pontoons. This provides the strength needed to handle the high torque of today's large engines.

DOES YOUR BOAT HAVE OUR CONSTRUCTION? Other manufacturers use C-channel designs which can require more cross members and provide less strength than Sunchaser’s hat-channel construction. And with imbalanced weight distribution, C-channel cross-members are less able to withstand the forces exerted on the pontoon year after year.

B Hat Channel

Constructed for Endurance - 3/4", 7-ply marine treated plywood through-bolted and screwed to the hat channels to create the strongest seams in the industry ("Heavy" hat-channel shown).

Tube construction

TUBES Tubes are made with one-piece .080" gauge aluminum with full-length keels and sturdy deck risers. Backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

Sylvan Fence & Railing close up

Fence & Railing - Features foam backing to prevent rattling and fully welded and anodized railing to add strength. Anodized welds are never painted. It's all backed by a 6-year warranty.

Thru-bolted Transom

Thru-Bolted Transom -

  • 1) A one-piece body with an all-welded transom is built with .190" gauge aluminum and metal boxed channel on the inner transom A pre-drilled motor mount attached with 20 bolts allows for the heaviest, high horsepower engines.
  • 2) .190" gauge aluminum is turned down for strength and structure.
  • 3) Spray deflectors with reinforced gussets push the water away.
  • 4) “V” provides clean water to propeller for better turning.
4-pt deck to hull fusion

4-pt Deck to Hull Fusion - Sunchaser deck brackets have 4 points of fusion for an extended area of contact with the tube. In addition to providing increased strength and support, this reduces frame twist and racking in rough water and guards against tube fatigue.
